My training methods are: ethical, force-free, science-based, R+, reward-based. Whatever you want to call it, it means that I will not use force, intimidation, or fear to motivate your dog. I will also not use tools that, when used correctly, cause pain to change your dog's behavior, including prong (pinch) collars, shock or e-collars, and choke chains. I am committed to humane training methods, because these methods turn out the best results, without any compromises to the relationship between you and your best canine partner. My priority is that you & your dog learn how to solve all the problems, and have fun doing it together!

What I will do: motivate your dog to do the things we'd like her to do, usually with (but not limited to!) treats and toys, and remove things (such as access to you) to get her to stop what we don't want her to do. For you science-y people, this is called positive reinforcement, and negative punishment.

Dog training is an unregulated industry. While doctors, accountants, realtors, even plumbers need to be licensed in order to do their job, ANYONE can go out tomorrow and call themselves a dog trainer, even taking clients without any repercussions if something goes wrong. PLEASE check the training methods and certifications (ex. CTC, KPA CTP, CSAT, etc) of the trainer you are thinking about hiring; your dog will thank you for it!

With a background in dog sports, I love teaching dogs to DO. I enjoy rewarding behaviors a dog does, so that they are more likely to do them in the future, such as walking next to me, sitting for pets instead of jumping up or grabbing the tug rope ONLY when cued for GAME ON! Because at the end of the day, dogs do what works; it is that simple.
